Whistler’s history goes back to the mid-1800’s when men from the Hudson’s Bay Company were searching for another route into Caribou Country for hunting. Our first name was Alta Lake, then London Mountain (British surveyors) and finally Whistler – named after the sound that the local Marmots make who can still be seen on a summer day up in the high alpine. They like to hide in the rocks and their fur is the same colour so you have to watch carefully to spot them!
